An update on our little "project" home!

Jeremy and I bought our first home seven years ago. We both saw the potential this small 1950's ranch possessed. Unfortunately, I truly believe that we were the ONLY ones who saw the potential this baby had. I recall a few "what in world were you thinking" looks the day we brought our parents over to check out our new digs! However, over the course of our time here, we have truly made this little "project" house our home. This home is a true reflection of our style and it has become the birth place of many special memories that J and I will always hold near and dear to our hearts. We got married while living here, anticipated the birth of our daughter in this home, and it's where we brought our sweet baby girl home from the hospital. Not to mention graduation from graduate school, our first "real" jobs, and many fun times that we shared with family and friends within the walls of this house. There have been moments where we questioned our sanity as we checked items off of our to-do list- but mostly the work we have done on this house has been a labor of absolute love. To say we are proud of how it turned out would be an understatement. However, all good things must come to an end.

In January, Jeremy received a new position within BB&T that is based out of Raleigh. While this is certainly a drivable distance, we knew that making that commute everyday would be taxing on J and would take away time that he was able to spend with Margo. It was tough but we made the decision to relocate- which means that we will be moving out of our little "project" house at the end of July. This is a bittersweet moment for our family. It is hard to leave our home and our friends behind, but our move will put us closer to both of our families. We know that in the long run this is what is best for J, Margo, and myself.

This isn't "goodbye" but more of an "I'll see you later" as we have decided to keep this home as an investment property based on it's close proximity to ECU. It makes my heart happy to know that I will be able to stop by and say hello to an old "friend" from time to time. After all, aren't our homes our best of friends?

Many of you followed along with us as we transformed this home into what it is today. Towards the end of our renovation journey I slacked off on posting pictures to this blog. Below is how our home looks today! :)

Front of home. We replaced all of the windows, both exterior doors, added the landscaping, and replaced the roof.

Back of home. We added the nice new deck and replaced the glass doors leading onto the deck.

Living Room. In here, we changed out the fixture and had the hardwoods refinished.

Another look at the Living Room. I LOVE that mantel. It is one of my favorite things about this home.

Kitchen. This was a total gut. New cabinets, floors, counter-tops. EVERYTHING in this room is new. This was definitely the longest project- but, it was SO worth it. Check out what our kitchen looked like before here.

Dining Area.
Den. This room looked much different before we started working in here. It was basically a blank canvas with white walls and white linoleum flooring. WE painted the brick (it was a carport before it was a blank canvas), added carpeting and a little paint. It was a very cozy little den!

Hall Bath. This room was another complete gut. I love how it turned out. Modern, but still kept the look of the era of the home.

Office.

Margo's Room. My favorite room in the house. :)

Master Bedroom. Wish I would have chosen another angle that didn't include the side of the armior.

Another view of the master bedroom.

Master Bath. This was nicely decorated in yellow and turquoise tile before we got a hold of it. Much better!
