Margo is TWO Months Old!!

My oh my... time with our sweet girl is surely flying! I can't believe that on February 10th she turned TWO months old. I also can't believe how much she has grown since we first brought her home from the hospital.

At two months Margo:
*Weighs 10lbs 7.5oz (76th percentile).
*Is 23.25 inches long (82nd percentile).
*Is still wearing 3m clothing (& some 3-6m sizes).
*Is starting to like to lay on her back to play or just observe.
*Will coo, ahh, and ohh right back at you. She loves to have conversations with Mommy and Daddy.
*Loves to smile at others.
*Discovered her hands and fingers on 1/18/14. She likes to put her hands in her mouth.
*Has learned to like bath time! Yay!
*Outgrew her bassinet on February 1st. She is now sleeping in her pack and play in Mommy and Daddy's room.
*Slept EIGHT hours straight through the night on January 20th. She usually goes down around 9:00 or 9:30pm and sleeps until she wakes up to nurse somewhere between 3:00 and 4:00am. After that, she is back asleep until 8:30am! Still sleeping like a champ! :)
*LOVES music!
*Enjoys it when we walk her around so that she can explore her surroundings. She is not fond of sitting still (Uh oh!!).

Jeremy and I are really getting the hang of this parenting thing. Margo is such a wonderful baby that she really makes it easy for us. She has distinct cries for when she is hungry, needs a diaper change, and when she needs a nap. Luckily, Jeremy and I have picked up on these cues! :) We are enjoying learning new things with our sweet baby girl.

Margo also experienced her first snow this month. She wasn't a big fan! It looks like Margo will take after her parents and prefer the beach to the cold weather! ;)

Here are a few pictures of from our sweet girls SECOND month!

And Baby Makes Three!!

Whoa! It has certainly been awhile. My resolution for 2013 was to begin blogging again. After all, my sole purpose of this blog was to capture the fun memories that Jeremy and I made along the way in hopes of one day showing them to our children. Blogging in 2013 didn't happen! So... naturally, I just carried that resolution right on over into 2014. It is still January and I am writing my first blog post. I would say that is a successful start!

Many exciting things have happened since my last post in 2011 (!!!!). I am no longer teaching and am now working at ECU as an Academic Advisor. We remodeled the bathroom, replaced the windows and roof, added a new deck and a few other small things to our little project house. But most importantly... WE HAD A SWEET BABY GIRL!!

 Margo Elizabeth Davis
 December 10th, 2013.
8lbs, 12oz and 20 inches long.

What a blessing Margo is to Jeremy and I. It is truly a love like no other. People always told me that once you have children your heart will grow ten times larger and that you will love them in a way that you never thought possible. It is so true! Being Mommy and Daddy is certainly something that Jeremy and I are figuring out one day at a time. But the days of it being just the two of us seem like a lifetime ago and we could not imagine our lives without our precious Margo.

On January 10th, our girl turned one month old! I can't believe that a month has already passed. Time certainly flies when you are having fun!!

At one month Margo:
*Weighs 10lbs 4oz (77th percentile)
*Is 22.2 inches long (91st percentile)
*Has outgrown most of her newborn outfits and is now wearing size 3m.
*Loves to be held and read too.
*Sleeps like a champ (most days).
*Grunts and makes noises in her sleep.
*Has found her "voice" and isn't a fan of diaper changes or baths.
*Does not like a paci (yet- Mommy is working on this!).
*Goes by the nickname "Sweet Cheeks."
*Gave us her first social month this month! :)

We sure do love our beautiful Margo. Jeremy and I can't wait to watch her grow up and develop her own little personality. What a fun journey it will be! Here are a few photos taken during our sweet girls 1st month!

Thankful Thoughts

November 3: "This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."
Psalm 118:24.
I am so very thankful for the good the Lord. He forgives me for my sins, sees past my imperfections, and loves me everyday.

November 4: I am thankful for my puppies. They may be wild and crazy, but they are also sweet, loving, furry, and they make great snuggle buddies.

November 5: I am thankful for my little brothers. They are hilarious and have grown up so fast. I am so proud of the young men they have become! Makin' a sister proud!!! :)

November 6: Today I am thankful for life itself. We never know when our time on Earth may come to an end. I am making it a personal goal to enjoy life a little more and not to take myself so seriously.

All of my friends are doing it....

...naturally, I must do it too! JK!

November is the month of Thanksgiving. To celebrate the upcoming holidays and the end of another year, each day I am going to list something that I am thankful for.

In true Jessica fashion, I will start by playing catch up. :)

November 1, 2011: I am thankful for my loving and supportive husband.

November 2, 2011: I am thankful for our families who are always there when we need them and who bring us tremendous joy.

The Perfect Color

If you've ever been to our home, you know that at one point in our lives we were HUGE fans of the dark, bold, ugly colors. Pumpkin Pie ring a bell? At the time, we thought that these colors were great and were a true representation of our personalities. Apparently, our personalities have changed! After seeing how great our hardwoods looked we decided that we needed to have our home painted. We also decided that this time around we were hiring a professional to get it done QUICKLY! This is what our home looked liked with our bold color choices (aka BEFORE our most recent paint job).

Living Room BEFORE - obviously in the midst of being painted!
Hallway BEFORE - Color Blocking in the home!?!
Office BEFORE- Pumpkin Pie anyone?!?
Guest Room BEFORE- I wish my guest room looked like this. But... the walls were painted this color!
Master BEFORE - One word! DARK!
Slumber Party for one night while everything was covered in plastic! This picture is proof of who is the pushover when it comes to the dogs!!
Living Room AFTER - Almost the same color  "Accessible Beige-Sherwin Williams"
Hallway AFTER - No more color blocking! Continued the color from the living room here.
Office AFTER - My fave color by far! "Watery - Sherwin Williams"
Guest Bedroom AFTER - Still a little green! "Recycled Glass - Sherwin Williams"
Master Bedroom AFTER- Much lighter! This color is tricky. It is a blue with grey undertones in natural light and more of a bluish green in artificial light. I love it!"Sea Salt - Sherwin Williams"
So, there you go! We still have to hang things in all the rooms except the living room. I think I want to change out some accessories too. We shall see! Have a great day friends!

What do you think? What are some of your favorite paint colors?

Playing Catch Up..... continued.

So, I have decided that not only have I married an old man... I've married an old man with old friends. Just kidding... remember that Jeremy turned 30 this year so I am having a ball with the old man jokes! :) A few weeks ago we were lucky enough to help celebrate a dear friend's 30th b-day. Nanda (dear friend's lovely wife) planned an awesome "roast & toast" surprise party for "Big John" at Fosters in Raleigh. We all had a great time surprising Jon on his birthday.

Hubs and the Birthday Boy!

A little "roast & toast" going on!
LOVE!

Jeremy & I visited with Jason & Chicky in Southern Pines last weekend. We had an awesome time! The guys played golf on Saturday while Chicky and I checked out the shopping in downtown Southern Pines. I was VERY impressed. SP is such a cute little place. I loved it and the peaches were AMAZING! Good times!

We started the day at the Farmer's Market for fresh peaches! YUM!
Upon our arrival in dt Southern Pines we saw this! We LOVE a SALE!
Chicky & I at the Jefferson! Fun times! It was a really humid night and we think that may have made our pictures a little cloudy.
Jeremy & Jason

Our awesome hosts! We love you guys and can't wait to visit again soon.

I have more sad news to share with everyone. My sweet, sweet friend Jenna is moving to Dudley. This means that I will no longer have the pleasure of seeing her everyday at school. SAD FACE!!! Jenna & I were teaching neighbors during our first year of teaching. She was a life saver many times throughout that year and the years to come. I am very excited for her new journey in life, but sad that she will not be close by any longer.  To say goodbye, we did what any group of smart women would do... we had a PARTY! All of the girls were there to celebrate Jenna's friendship and wish her well. I wish I could say that we talked her into staying but.... we didn't. :-/ Good luck to my dear friend Jenna! I love you and can't wait to see you soon!

Love you Jenna!
