Eagle Scouts

This past weekend we celebrated a huge accomplishment for both of my brothers, Jeremiah and Ethan. They were welcomed into the brotherhood of Eagle Scouts. Did you know that only two out of 100 scouts make it to the rank of Eagle Scout? Needless to say we were all very proud of them both!

Jeremy helped to MC the event. He did a great job and was honored to be asked to participate in such a special event for Jeremiah and Ethan.

All of the Eagle Scouts present were asked to recite the Eagle Charge.

Scout Leader, Tim Wall, presents each scout with their Eagle pin.

Two handsome Eagle Scouts!

Jeremy, Margo, and I were excited to be able to share this accomplishment with her Uncle Jeremiah and Uncle Ethan. Congratulations!

A fun filled 3 months!

Our precious baby turned THREE MONTHS OLD on March 10th. I simply can't believe it. The past three months have felt like a whirlwind. They have been filled with long nights, incessant worrying (ya'll know me!), kisses, snuggles, and many, many priceless memories.

It is amazing how much Margo has grown in these three short months. Her personality is really starting to shine! Our girl certainly knows what she likes and doesn't like. Her smile can melt your heart! I love to listen to hear "coo" and "ahh" at her toys. The three month mark brought about many changes for Miss Priss- the biggest being Mommy going back to work and her starting "school." But this is our new normal and we are adjusting quite nicely. Being away from her for nine hours a day only makes me appreciate my time with her that much more!

At 3 months Margo:
*Weighs 14lbs.
*Is wearing 3-6m clothing
*Has started reaching for her toys on her play gym.
*Will hold her hands up and look at them and clasp them together (we call this her praying hands!).
*Can really kick her legs. She has started to love her kick and play piano! This also makes it hard to change her clothes/diaper when she is in a "mood!" ;)
*Has become more fond of her bouncy seat and swing. She will actually sit and let Mommy and Daddy eat together rather than in "shifts."
*Her favorite book is Snuggle Puppy by Sandra Boynton (a Valentine's Day gift from Daddy!).
*Can occasionally roll half way over onto her side.
*Loves to be rocked to sleep.
*Still loves to be swaddled (although she tries to break out of the swaddle nightly!).
*Has started waking up more often during the night since starting daycare. Her new sleep schedule goes something like this: 9pm bedtime, awake between 12 and 1am and then awake again between 5 and 6am.  She isn't eating as much as I would like at daycare and I think she is making up for it during the night! We will probably start an earlier bedtime soon. I don't want to because it will take away from the time I get to spend with her... but... I understand that sleep is very important for her development.
*Can knock you dead in your tracks with her precious smile!
*Just developed her first little cold this week. Prayers requested that she is feeling better soon!

Jeremy and I were just talking about how we learn something new each week when it comes to taking care of our girl! When we first brought Margo home, I was afraid to put her down, much less leave her in her crib to take a nap. Each day we grow a little more confident in our abilities to raise a little human. The past three months have been full of growth for our little family. We are excited about the upcoming months and the new memories that we will make with our daughter!

Enjoy some of our favorite memories of Margo's THIRD month!!!

What a difference three months can make. Sure do love our sweet girl!

In other news, Margo had her first cold and ear infection this past week. Luckily, we caught the ear infection early. The dr. prescribed amoxicillin to treat it. We call it her bubblegum meds. Jeremy and I both remember taking this when we were little! I could not stand to hear my little love bug congested and coughing. She seems to be on the mend. Praise!! :)

Margo's First Day of "School"- aka Daycare!

It is hard to believe that 12 weeks has passed. I have surely enjoyed my time with my sweet and precious girl! We had so much fun spending our days together. Unfortunately, I returned to work part-time last week and Margo went to "school" for the first time. She is attending daycare at Trinity Christian. I am so happy that a spot opened up for her as this was our first choice of daycare for our little sweet cheeks.

Her teachers names are Miss Myra, Miss Christie, and Miss Rachael. She and mommy love all three! They love to hold our sweet girl and give her lots of love while Mommy and Daddy are working. She has three other friends in her class right now, but there will be more starting in March. It was hard to be away from her for four hours everyday, but I know that she is being well taken care of and that makes it much easier.Plus, her awesome teachers send me pictures of her through out the day. That makes it much easier!

Here are a few pictures of our sweet girl on her first day of "school."

Enjoy!

Margo is TWO Months Old!!

My oh my... time with our sweet girl is surely flying! I can't believe that on February 10th she turned TWO months old. I also can't believe how much she has grown since we first brought her home from the hospital.

At two months Margo:
*Weighs 10lbs 7.5oz (76th percentile).
*Is 23.25 inches long (82nd percentile).
*Is still wearing 3m clothing (& some 3-6m sizes).
*Is starting to like to lay on her back to play or just observe.
*Will coo, ahh, and ohh right back at you. She loves to have conversations with Mommy and Daddy.
*Loves to smile at others.
*Discovered her hands and fingers on 1/18/14. She likes to put her hands in her mouth.
*Has learned to like bath time! Yay!
*Outgrew her bassinet on February 1st. She is now sleeping in her pack and play in Mommy and Daddy's room.
*Slept EIGHT hours straight through the night on January 20th. She usually goes down around 9:00 or 9:30pm and sleeps until she wakes up to nurse somewhere between 3:00 and 4:00am. After that, she is back asleep until 8:30am! Still sleeping like a champ! :)
*LOVES music!
*Enjoys it when we walk her around so that she can explore her surroundings. She is not fond of sitting still (Uh oh!!).

Jeremy and I are really getting the hang of this parenting thing. Margo is such a wonderful baby that she really makes it easy for us. She has distinct cries for when she is hungry, needs a diaper change, and when she needs a nap. Luckily, Jeremy and I have picked up on these cues! :) We are enjoying learning new things with our sweet baby girl.

Margo also experienced her first snow this month. She wasn't a big fan! It looks like Margo will take after her parents and prefer the beach to the cold weather! ;)

And Baby Makes Three!!

Whoa! It has certainly been awhile. My resolution for 2013 was to begin blogging again. After all, my sole purpose of this blog was to capture the fun memories that Jeremy and I made along the way in hopes of one day showing them to our children. Blogging in 2013 didn't happen! So... naturally, I just carried that resolution right on over into 2014. It is still January and I am writing my first blog post. I would say that is a successful start!

Many exciting things have happened since my last post in 2011 (!!!!). I am no longer teaching and am now working at ECU as an Academic Advisor. We remodeled the bathroom, replaced the windows and roof, added a new deck and a few other small things to our little project house. But most importantly... WE HAD A SWEET BABY GIRL!!

 Margo Elizabeth Davis
 December 10th, 2013.
8lbs, 12oz and 20 inches long.

What a blessing Margo is to Jeremy and I. It is truly a love like no other. People always told me that once you have children your heart will grow ten times larger and that you will love them in a way that you never thought possible. It is so true! Being Mommy and Daddy is certainly something that Jeremy and I are figuring out one day at a time. But the days of it being just the two of us seem like a lifetime ago and we could not imagine our lives without our precious Margo.

On January 10th, our girl turned one month old! I can't believe that a month has already passed. Time certainly flies when you are having fun!!

At one month Margo:
*Weighs 10lbs 4oz (77th percentile)
*Is 22.2 inches long (91st percentile)
*Has outgrown most of her newborn outfits and is now wearing size 3m.
*Loves to be held and read too.
*Sleeps like a champ (most days).
*Grunts and makes noises in her sleep.
*Has found her "voice" and isn't a fan of diaper changes or baths.
*Does not like a paci (yet- Mommy is working on this!).
*Goes by the nickname "Sweet Cheeks."
*Gave us her first social month this month! :)

We sure do love our beautiful Margo. Jeremy and I can't wait to watch her grow up and develop her own little personality. What a fun journey it will be! Here are a few photos taken during our sweet girls 1st month!

Thankful Thoughts

November 3: "This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."
Psalm 118:24.
I am so very thankful for the good the Lord. He forgives me for my sins, sees past my imperfections, and loves me everyday.

November 4: I am thankful for my puppies. They may be wild and crazy, but they are also sweet, loving, furry, and they make great snuggle buddies.

November 5: I am thankful for my little brothers. They are hilarious and have grown up so fast. I am so proud of the young men they have become! Makin' a sister proud!!! :)

November 6: Today I am thankful for life itself. We never know when our time on Earth may come to an end. I am making it a personal goal to enjoy life a little more and not to take myself so seriously.

All of my friends are doing it....

...naturally, I must do it too! JK!

November is the month of Thanksgiving. To celebrate the upcoming holidays and the end of another year, each day I am going to list something that I am thankful for.

In true Jessica fashion, I will start by playing catch up. :)

November 1, 2011: I am thankful for my loving and supportive husband.

November 2, 2011: I am thankful for our families who are always there when we need them and who bring us tremendous joy.
